Sanding

What to expect...

We follow National Wood Flooring Association sanding guidelines using the most effective and up-to-date sanding equipment and materials in the industry.  Extra care is taken with regard to hanging plastic and masking off adjacent areas to minimize dust during the sanding process.

Special attention is given removing the necessary amount of wood/pre-existing finish as well as assisting in the overall leveling of irregularities.

The entire floor is troweled with a wood filler.

Careful attention is given to our final sand, removing all rough grit sanding marks (This is especially critical in preparation to all stain applications).

Fir, Pine and other Softwoods...

By nature softwoods absorb finish deeper into the grain and also have a tendency to dent or bruise, all of which requires a more thorough sanding.  At the same time there are limitations to the depth we are able to sand without exposing the tongues & grooves.  For this reason, softwood floors often can not be fully restored to their original beauty.
